In this pluralistic society, we used to hear about
Abortion frequently. Today different groups have their own agenda on this issue.
Abortion has been highlighted in the newspaper or the discussion on TV channels
or the internet. Some feminist argues that government should pass the bill for
the abortion on the behalf of mother’s benefit. Scientist says that fetus isn’t
a person until implantation or until when it first breaths. They reject that
human life does not begin at the conception. It can be the clean chit for some
people to choose abortion.[1]They
failed to see the life and the futuristic hope of the innocent living being that
is killed inside the womb. It makes human as barbarian of this planet.
I argue that abortion should not be practice in any
post – modern societies. It is wrong ethically to promote and to permit the
woman to choose abortion. It is not the ultimate option for woman to escape
from their sarcastic problems. Medically, abortion does not bring good health
for woman too. Gynecologist says that
abortion can produce high risk of uterus cancer and barren womb in the future.
So, it has vice versa side effects for the woman. Therefore, it is not good to
abort the child.
However, Bible says that all male and female are
created in the image of God (Gen.1:27). Human personhood in not measured by
age, stage of development, or mental, Physical, or social Skills (Exo. 4:11).
Jesus became a human being at the point of conception. Even Dr. Alfred M.
Bongioanni, Professor of obstetrics once said; “I have learned from my earliest
medical education that human life beings at the time of conception. He said
that human life is present throughout sequence from conception to adulthood,
and therefore if any termination in that point is also termination of human
life. [2] The Old Testament reminds us that God is
giver of the life (Zech.12:1) and through his power every fetus development
occurs (Psalm 139:13; Job 10:8-12) and all every souls belongs to creator God
(Gen4: 15). It shows that no one has right to take life it its own initiative
or the obligations. Created beings are not to cause the death of the innocent
and guiltless unborn personhood. Therefore, in the Ten Commandments it says
“thou shall not kill”. God is love and we are called to love each other. As a
Christian it is our duty to be faithful and obedience to walk in the path of
righteousness and holiness. In concluding this blog, I would encourage people
not to be the part of killing innocent child through abortion. Let them see
God’s awesome creation.
1) What
is your response to abortion from the ethical perspective?
2) If
you are a Christian and discovered that your neighbor is going to do abortion,
then what will be your response and responsibility for her?
Yes, I agree with you! Abortion is a grave offense against God and His creation. It's a murder because life begins at the moment of conception. I don't allow abortion just because of there choices. If I discovered that my neighbor is going to do abortion, I will strongly suggest them not to do and advice them another solution.
ReplyDeleteThis borrowed life came from our Creator, and only He can take it away. I am strongly opposed to abortion. Life is a gift meant to be treasured!
ReplyDeletewhen it comes to abortion, i think of myself had i been been aborted. i was assigned and had ministered to three small churches. i taught some lay pastors who cannot afford formal college education at the Bible school. i make disciples of some cadets at PNPA. i evangelized some lost and helped them find Christ. had i been aborted, others may take my place but what about those results He intended for me. those who abort babies should prepare to defend their case before God. They destroyed a person and a future by which God had invested much power, love, care, wisdom, and His very image on that baby.
ReplyDeleteAbortion is Killing a baby and its against God's command. In this post-modern generation is being immoral in character and engaged in sex abuse for pleasure and earning. For their safety pro-life is being done. If I came to know about such case then I would suggest her to give birth to that baby though society doesn't accept. If she doesn't want baby then she can give to the families who are without children. All life is created by our Almighty God. ABORTION IS MURDER.
ReplyDeleteI also should not agree to do abortion for every girls..really, God's creation is started during the time of conception.. In this process, the tissue is growing day by day to become the complete child in mother womb..This tissues is alive already..we should not abort it for any reason. No matter how we have problems in life, becoming a complete child is started from small alive tissue..I pray that every will be free from abortion and I also commit myself to educate or share the negative effects of abortion to my friends, my church members and all girls around me..Good post..it made me to consider about this issue seriously !!

ReplyDeleteDear reader, thanks for ur comments.
ReplyDeleteDear readers, thnks for ur comments..
ReplyDeleteBeing a women i strongly support you that in some of the rare case ( health of mother or the baby)we are not subject to chose for abortion. Our life is from God. We don't have any right to kill or destroy the gift of God. Recently I challenged one lady in China not to abort the baby. She had already aborted twice. This is my reponsilbity of being christian and human to save the life of others. Thank you for the blog. It would be great reminder for men and women to think before they take any action.
ReplyDeletePostmodernism rose up with a much individualist selfish choice which is really against God's design and creation. It drives Humanity against the Absolute Truth and conscience of humanity. So we can say that abortion is one of the greatest sins of the world and it breaks every commandment of God. I do agree that there must be consequences mentally, physically and socially. Thank you for this wonderful reflection about abortion and challenges for Christianity. My deep concern is that the Christian should think and pray against abortion.
ReplyDeleteI believe and uphold the sanctity of life. Abortion (intentional) is simply a murder of an innocent helpless child. Though there can be a case when abortion can be validly considered such as when a mother's health is in danger, killing a baby for the sake of finances, career or for any material/aesthetic purpose is simply unacceptable. A single human life is far more precious than money or career.
ReplyDeleteLife is the greatest gift of God and the creator is the owner so no one has the right to kill life. The baby may not be born yet, but it is a life already. If we accept the practice of abortion, it means we agree on killing life. Life which God created should have the opportunity to experience God's Love through the people around him or her. I will boldly confront and educate others about the important of life so that they will have the right perspective and avoid abortion.
ReplyDeleteI am agree with you brother. Thank you for posting this blog. you have raised good topic about "Abortion." we are now in this world where each day Abortion is happening. It is crime. People are getting more evil day by day. They are murdering new life through the abortion. God, personally, knows everyone before any one comes in her mother womb (Jer.1:4,5) but new generation people do not realize about God's creation. They are just seeking their physical pleasures. This is our(Christians) time to share about truth and let us tell them about Abortion and creation of God.
ReplyDeleteAbortion to us Christians is by default wrong. But if you are to choose between saving the mother by killing the baby or saving the baby and let the mother die. That is more worth discussing.
ReplyDeletebrother in fact this is the hard topic regarding the ethical issues, From God view point we are not allow to takes one,s life but concerning today view point it is hard. if we put ourselves than only we know the reality. if someone is raped and got pregnant what she will do? she will be hate rate within the family because she will be burden for the family, she will be look down by the society rite? However if the government take care of this than we are able to minimize and finally we can eliminate the practice.

ReplyDeleteAbortion is, as all know, one of the most divisive and troubling contemporary issues all over the globe. There are ethical parameters as to tackle this issue while there must be a variety of diverse vantage points if tackled in realms of cultural and theological. This also entails a bunch of questions such as: are you a pro-lifer? Pro-abortion? Or pro-choice as in pro-woman or pro-child??
Pro-choice advocates may be confused/confusing when human life begins. But then they gave up the conundrum and passed it over to religious beliefs or theological solutions. If the major opponents like pro-choice guys cannot give the ultimate answer, then it’s our baby!
• What etymological argument can we make? – the word ‘fetus’ is a Latin word which means ‘offspring’, ‘little one’, ‘budding life’, or ‘little children’. So, at any stage, this ‘little being’ is a person who fully has a life regardless of the size, the form, and the growth. We don’t become more human as we become bigger or older. It’s just about the stage of the process of becoming a fully grown-up person! So aborting the developmental stage of a human being is, at any rate, killing.
The word ‘unwanted’ is basically the expression of the attitude toward the child. God in the Bible values life and that every child is a WANTED child. Terminating a child’s life is Killing a creature created by God!
• What medical science says about this? – First, the huge majority of medical doctors (even the abortionists!) agree that human life begins at conception. It is medically believed that the newly fertilized eggs carry an astronomical sum of GENETIC INFORMATION which is adequate/qualified to determine an infant’s physical and mental development for the entire lifetime. A single cell in his/her cell, as in an adult, carries a 3-million-lettered DNA code which is directing the movements of the cells in him/her and that makes the infant who he/she is (becoming)! And who shall say this little tiny infant (which is even not yet well-formed) doesn’t have life?? There is GROWTH cos there is LIFE! An ignorant one may say, there is no gender identity right at the conception. No, medical proof is that between five and nine days right after the conception a new human being burrows into the womb’s wall and his/her gender can already be determined by scientific means. Thus, he is already a FULL-FLEDGED member of the human race, even if not a FULL-GROWN one. The nurses in the OT who are saying ‘empty the uterus’ know they are sucking out or scraping the baby. It’s just the language they refer to use.

Lun Khai (continued here):
ReplyDelete• What ethical arguments can we make? – Pro-choice advocates may reiterate the statement: “Abortion is a private decision between a woman and her doctor.” Here, physicians are trained in medical knowledge and skills, not in moral guidelines or biblical understanding. Their suggestion or aid for your ethical decision cannot be a reliable one. Many German doctors had killed lives in the name of mercy during WW-II. Do you think this can be permissible in ethical point of view?
Some may wonder if abortion is right in cases of pregnancy risks to the mother’s life. Here, the motive is important. Me stick with saving the life whatever the case may be. In case like cancer in the mother or the deformity risks in the child, the surgery can be done but to save the baby’s life, in no way to kill. If the child is operated dead then that’s the side-effect of the efforts to save both. The ethic here is to SAVE baby’s life, not to KILL it. That should be the only parameter as to making a decision dealing with these wide-ranging issues.
The pregnancy due to rape or incest should not be aborted also. A god-fearing action would be bearing the child and arranging better things for the child, in case the mother cannot take care of the child due to different reasons.
We can surely make other biblical theological arguments concerning the issue and offer Bible quotations that explicitly or inexplicitly refer to this ethical problem. Life is a gift of God and He calls us by name since we are in the womb, and even our hairs are numbered, Psalms says. Thus, we should honor and respect life as it is. Any means to destroy life is a deadly sin and God its giver will deal with it. We ourselves should not commit abortion and should not support any decision to commit abortion as well. “He Himself gives to all people life and breath.” (Acts 17:25b)
